Quick answer

What is the average cost of LASIK?

The average cost of LASIK in the U.S. is about $2,246 per eye, or roughly $4,500 for both eyes, according to All About Vision's 2026 figures. Prices in Fort Worth vary with the laser technology, your prescription and what the quote includes. Azure Eye Center provides your exact price in writing at a free consultation.

That is a national average from All About Vision (2026), not Azure's price. Azure does not publish a standard LASIK price because the right treatment depends on your eyes.

The quote

What should a LASIK price include?

A LASIK quote should cover everything from your first measurement to your last follow-up visit. Ask for it in writing.

  • ✓
Consultation and corneal mapping. At Azure, the LASIK consultation is free.
  • ✓
The surgery. The laser treatment for each eye and the surgeon's fee.
  • ✓
Technology fee. Some practices list topography-guided treatment separately.
  • ✓
Post-op visits. Ask how many follow-up exams are included and for how long.
  • ✓
Enhancements. Ask whether a touch-up is included if you need one, and for how long.

Price factors

What changes the price of LASIK?

Four things account for most of the difference between LASIK quotes.

Laser technology

Azure uses the Alcon WaveLight PLUS refractive suite, and Contoura Vision maps about 22,000 elevation points on your cornea to guide treatment. More customized treatment generally costs more than basic LASIK.

Your prescription and astigmatism

Higher prescriptions and astigmatism can require more planning and treatment. Low-price offers often apply only to mild nearsightedness.

Surgeon training and experience

You are paying for judgment: who screens you, who operates and who handles problems. Dr. Truong is board-certified and fellowship-trained in cornea and refractive surgery at UCLA's Jules Stein Eye Institute.

What is bundled

Two quotes with the same total can cover different things. One may include follow-up visits and enhancements; another may charge for each separately.

Advertised prices

Why are "$499 LASIK" ads misleading?

Very low advertised prices usually apply to a narrow group of patients, and the price quoted after an exam is often much higher.

  • ✓
Per eye, not both. A $499 ad typically means one eye, so two eyes start at $998 before anything else is added.
  • ✓
Low prescriptions only. Advertised prices usually apply to mild nearsightedness without significant astigmatism.
  • ✓
Exclusions. Technology upgrades, follow-up visits and enhancements may cost extra.

All About Vision notes that ads for LASIK under $1,000 per eye often cover only mild nearsightedness and may leave out follow-up care. That does not make every lower-priced practice a poor choice, but compare complete, written quotes rather than headline numbers.

Judging a quote

Is $4,000 a good price for LASIK?

It depends on whether $4,000 covers one eye or both, and what it includes. For both eyes with care included, $4,000 is a little below the national average of about $4,500. For one eye, it is well above that average, so ask what justifies the price.

  • ✓
Per eye or both eyes? This alone can double the cost.
  • ✓
Which technology? Is topography-guided treatment such as Contoura included or extra?
  • ✓
Follow-up care. Are post-op visits included, and for how long?
  • ✓
Enhancements. Is a touch-up included if you need one?
  • ✓
The surgeon. Who performs the surgery, and who sees you afterward?
  • ✓
Prescription pricing. Does the price change based on your prescription?

If the answers are vague, the number alone tells you little.

Insurance

Is LASIK covered by insurance?

Usually not. Most medical and vision plans consider LASIK elective. Some vision plans offer a discount through participating providers, so check your benefits.

HSA and FSA funds are a common way to pay. IRS Publication 502 lists laser eye surgery to treat defective vision as a medical expense, so LASIK is generally HSA and FSA eligible. Confirm with your plan administrator.

Financing

Can I finance LASIK in Fort Worth?

Yes. Azure Eye Center offers financing through CareCredit, ALPHAEON Credit and Cherry payment plans, which let you spread the cost into monthly payments.

Promotional plans may be available for qualified applicants. Terms depend on the lender and your application. See our LASIK financing options for details.

Long-term value

Is LASIK worth it compared with glasses and contacts?

For many people, LASIK costs less over time than years of contacts and glasses. To check, add up what you spend each year on contacts, solution and glasses, multiply by the years you expect to keep using them, and compare the total with your written LASIK quote.

Hypothetical example, not Azure pricing: if you spend $500 a year on contacts and solution, plus $200 every two years on glasses, that is about $600 a year. Over 10 years, that is about $6,000.

Keep in mind that LASIK does not prevent presbyopia, so most people still need reading glasses in their 40s or later.

Alternatives

How does LASIK cost compare with PRK, EVO ICL and RLE?

PRK is usually priced similarly to LASIK. EVO ICL and refractive lens exchange generally cost more because they are lens-based surgery inside the eye.

PRK

Laser treatment on the corneal surface with no flap, often for thin corneas or contact sports.

PRK in Fort Worth →

EVO ICL

An implantable lens for higher nearsightedness or thin corneas, typically ages 21 to 45.

EVO ICL →

Refractive Lens Exchange

Replaces the natural lens with an implant, usually for presbyopia after about 45.

Refractive lens exchange →

FAQ

LASIK cost questions from Fort Worth patients

How much does LASIK cost in Fort Worth?

LASIK prices in Fort Worth vary by practice, technology and prescription. For reference, All About Vision reports a U.S. average of about $2,246 per eye in 2026. Azure Eye Center does not publish a standard price. You receive your exact LASIK price in writing at a free consultation at our Fort Worth (Alliance) or Colleyville office, after your eyes are measured.

Is $4,000 a good price for LASIK?

It depends on what the $4,000 covers. For both eyes with technology, follow-up visits and any needed enhancement included, it is a little below the national average of about $4,500 for two eyes. For one eye, it is well above that average, so ask what justifies the price. Compare complete written quotes, not headline numbers.

Is LASIK priced per eye or for both eyes?

Many practices quote LASIK per eye, especially in ads, so a price that looks low may double once both eyes are treated. Always ask whether a quote is per eye or for both eyes. At Azure Eye Center in Fort Worth, your written quote shows exactly what you will pay and what it includes.

Does insurance cover LASIK?

Usually not. Most medical and vision insurance plans consider LASIK elective. Some vision plans offer discounts through participating providers, so check your benefits. You can generally use HSA or FSA funds for LASIK, and Azure Eye Center also offers financing through CareCredit, ALPHAEON Credit and Cherry payment plans.

Can I use my HSA or FSA for LASIK?

In most cases, yes. LASIK is generally a qualified medical expense for health savings accounts and flexible spending accounts, because IRS Publication 502 includes laser eye surgery to treat defective vision. FSA contribution limits are set each year, so some patients plan their election during open enrollment. Check your plan's rules with your administrator before scheduling.

Why can Contoura LASIK cost more than standard LASIK?

Contoura Vision is topography-guided LASIK. It maps about 22,000 elevation points on your cornea and uses that map to guide the laser, so the treatment is customized to your eye. More customized treatment generally costs more than basic LASIK. Your written quote from Azure Eye Center states which treatment Dr. Truong recommends for you and what it costs.

Does Azure Eye Center offer free LASIK consultations?

Yes. Azure Eye Center offers a free LASIK consultation at its Fort Worth (Alliance) and Colleyville offices. Your eyes are measured, the team explains whether LASIK, Contoura, PRK, EVO ICL or lens exchange fits you, and you receive your exact price in writing.
